Pe'er HaSTaM has created a Sephardic Gassot Tefillin. Gassot meaning thick ones are made from a single piece of thick leather. They have inserts to close flat. To make these Tefillin, industrial presses are used with several tons of pressure. This produces Batim (which are thick and very durable, typically lasting a lifetime.The Batim are 34-35mm. The straps are made from the retsu’ot elion (which is the top part of the skin).
